Vintage Westkit Vest Knitting Pattern, Size 8 to 12

Westkit : This pattern contains directions to knit, crochet edges, the garment shown. Termed a Weskit (informal term for waistcoat), it is very much like todays termed vest. This one, in attractive pattern stitch, has the typical v-neck with inverted v at the bottom of the 6 button closure. It is, of course, sleeveless. The vintage 1949 pattern is sized for women between 8 and 12. The directions are written for a size 8, with changes for 10 and 12 in parenthesis.


  • Botany Sport Yarn, 2-oz skeins. 3 skeins.
  • No.1 knitting needles
  • No. 2 steel crochet hook,
  • 6 buttons.

GAUGE: 7 sts= 1”; 10 rows=1".
